Possibilities of training the mind: Meditation in a university context? - The Munich Model

Abstract

Courses on mindfulness and meditation, based on the so-called “Munich Model”, are being held at the Munich University of Applied Sciences (MUAS) and at the Ludwig-MaximiliansUniversität (LMU) München. Since 2010 the programmes have continuously been expanded. Meanwhile 150 students are attending the courses each semester. The paper describes the structure and implementation, as well as the conditions for participation and the content of the courses. Additionally, the prior results are examined.

Andreas de Bruin

Professor Dr., teaches at the Munich University of Applied Sciences and, within the framework of an educational and research cooperation, also at the Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU) Munich. His teaching and research focuses in particular on the effect dimensions of meditation and mindfulness. He is the initiator and director of the Munich model "Meditation in a University Context" as well as the public and free framework program "Spiritual Teachers and their Teachings".
