Abstract

The following article refers to the most important results of the research project “The Competence of Transcendence Ability”. This “study of Consciousness research” implements the concept of “Transcendence Ability” which is a competence that is clearly definable, quantifiable, highly effective and learnable. It is the ability to perceive a given problem from a completely new perspective. This in turn makes a greater emotional range available and acts as an aid to process. In order to free the term transcendence from its purely spiritual aura, it was researched in diverse levels of consciousness. The thesis also deals comprehensively with the process model of transcendence as well as with the subject of aids to transcendence. With the help of the “Transcendence Ability Questionnaire”, which was constructed for the study, it is proved that there are people who even in existential crises succeed in remaining open and interested. They feel themselves to be embedded in a greater context of meaning and have more success in dealing with themselves and others. Furthermore it is proved that those able to transcend have significantly higher averages on the mental health scales than those tested who have less ability to transcend
