Abstract
In this text of the founder of the international playbacktheatre movement a short review about the historical development of this form of improvisational theatre is given and a horizontal as well vertical extension proposed: to include the collective societal history behind the personal stories of a single teller and to open up for different cultural experiences in the extended neighbourhood in the community. Four principles should be adhered: networking, sustainability, knowledge and congruence. In an afterword reference is made to the findings of Belschner and others (in this edition) and a plea held for transpersonal experiences in playback theatre.
