Abstract

The idea of reincarnation is known in all spiritual traditions including early Christendom. But its reality cannot be proved by the eye of flesh (science), nor by the eye of mind (logic), but only by the eye of contemplation. The question is: What becomes reincarnated and what are the stages within this process of dying and rebirth? Very profound knowledge about these stages is given by the Tibetan Book of Dying. Similar experiences are documented by people close to death. Meditation can be seen as a preparation of conscious dying, until the eternal essence of the Absolute becomes realised.
